Jupiter 20090804 - GRS and Wesley Impact Spot
It would have been nice to have the seeing hold as Jupiter dropped in altitude towards the time of the Wesley Impact Spot, but it did not.
The image seems a bit crowded to me, but I thought it would be nice to have a dual view with 3 channel RGB all for comparison.
The spot is REALLY spreading out!

Absolutely Great!!!!
ReplyDeletewow, what causes the spreading, i am not an astrophysicist
ReplyDeleteGood question and I'm not either!!!
ReplyDeleteI believe the lower level cloud debris is what causes the darkness of the impact spot. Then the upper level clouds (the ones we see on Earth) are subject to high winds, much like the jetstream on Earth. They grab the lower level debris and spread it out over time.
sounds good to me
