My longest single target exposure to date - M109 at 7-HOURS with mind bogglingly distant galaxy!

Normally I keep the image res to fit the blogger previews but thought this should come in full, as shot res.  This image of M109 is from 3 nights back in late winter of 2019.  The orientation of those nights in Feb and March left some odd cruff along the edges as well as that horrible dust mote from the previous shots.  Anyway, I was happy that I could drive from inside and let SequenceGenerator Pro do its thing!  Here's M109 in 7 glorious hours of 5min subs!  Remind me to get a good DSO set of filters.  Since I like galaxies, I'm going wide band!

Faint Fuzzy Finding
Since the total time was so deep I decided to go hunting for faint fuzzies and overlaid them and supplied the list below with the original, non-aesthetic orientation.

...is one quite further than the blog I referenced above, PGC197602 was perhaps my previous record, but at z=0.1182 = 1,628,000,000 LY or 1.628 BILLION Light Years away from Earth, this one takes the cake by far.

New record of the more faint things and furthest things I've seen to date.  Using the previously posted calculations from this entry - https://astromaphilli14.blogspot.com/2013/09/around-abell-262-galaxy-cluster-in.html

Using the Radial Velocity = 210418,

https://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/speed/km_sec.html?u=km_sec&v=210%2C418
Z=0.7019

https://www.convert-me.com/en/convert/length/auredshift.html?u=auredshift&v=0.7019
which means that it's 9,665,389,199 Light Years or more shortly 9.67 BILLION LY away!

Keep in mind that the expansion of the universe over it's lifespan means that objects can be 'further' away than the actual age of the universe!

Wait, did you seriously shoot a galaxy at nearly 10BLY away?  SHOW ME!  Ok....

Cool right!  Wait, there's a bit more here.... the 'stars' are pretty obvious, but what are the rest of these blobs that aren't in the PGC lists????  Am I doing science yet?

Hope you enjoied reading!

Michael A. Phillips' First Jovian Year (2007-2019)

Michael A. Phillips' First Jovian Year (2007-2019)

 Building off my last blog where I complained about all the planets being low in 2019.  I offer this illustration of a full Jovian year.  During this time period you can see Jupiter starting at a low altitude in2007 and rising to a high altitude around 2014 only to dip back down in 2019.   What's really telling to me is that even after swapping telescopes in 2011 the quality still drops from 2012 to 2019 because of the altitude.

Thanks! It was quite fun to realize the journey I was on!
